Before your agency sends a translated candidate CV to a client, translate the tasks clearly, keep original qualification labels identifiable and ask about vague language claims. Check the result against the client's actual brief: a readable translation should not add a degree equivalent, certification or language level.

The worked Polish-to-English example below keeps every source section. It shows how to explain ERP support work, retain inżynier separately from the subject studied, and replace “communicative German” with a practical description confirmed by the candidate.

For general claim-by-claim fidelity, use our candidate-profile accuracy guide. If your task is deciding which evidence fits a shorter submission, see what to keep and cut from a consultant CV. Here, the job is translating the chosen content without changing what it says.

Editorial example: Polish source and English client profile keep the original qualification label inżynier.

The fictional client brief

Fictional worked example F-18. The candidate, employers, career details, dates and conversation are invented for this guide.

The fictional client asks:

Prepare an English or German specialist profile without personal identifying details. Keep separate experience, education, training and language sections, and preserve employment/study periods. Explain what the original Polish qualification says without assigning a foreign equivalent. Describe practical language use; no minimum German CEFR level is specified.

For the English version, describe the candidate's work and practical language use; the client has not requested a German CEFR level or SAP certification.

The complete Polish source excerpt

Profil F-18 — specjalista ds. wdrożeń ERP

Doświadczenie zawodowe

03.2021–06.2024 | Wdrożenia Alfa [fikcyjny pracodawca]

Stanowisko: Specjalista ds. wdrożeń

  • Konfiguracja modułu zakupowego systemu ERP.
  • Przygotowywanie instrukcji dla użytkowników i udział w uruchomieniach systemu.

07.2024–obecnie | Serwis Beta [fikcyjny pracodawca]

Stanowisko: Konsultant ds. utrzymania systemu ERP

  • Obsługa zgłoszeń dotyczących modułu zakupowego.
  • Odtwarzanie błędów i przekazywanie ich zespołowi programistów.

Wykształcenie

2015–2019 | informatyka | tytuł zawodowy: inżynier | studia ukończone.

Szkolenia

SAP MM, 2023.

Języki

Angielski: B2 — deklaracja kandydata.

Niemiecki: komunikatywny.

Fictional candidate clarification — 2 November 2026

„Nadal pracuję w Serwis Beta. Po niemiecku prowadzę krótkie rozmowy o zgłoszeniach serwisowych; trudniejsze sprawy omawiam po angielsku. Nie mam potwierdzonego poziomu CEFR niemieckiego.”

The candidate confirms that they still work at Serwis Beta, handle short German conversations about support requests and use English for more complex matters. They have no confirmed German CEFR level. “Present” in the client profile therefore refers to employment as confirmed on 2 November 2026.

No answer has yet been supplied about the training provider, official course title or whether SAP MM training included a certification examination. Keep that question open in the recruiter's notes.

How should each Polish source section appear in the English profile?

  • Heading and structure: “specjalista ds. wdrożeń ERP” becomes “ERP implementation specialist”, without added seniority. Doświadczenie zawodowe, Wykształcenie, Szkolenia and Języki become separate Experience, Education, Training and Languages sections.
  • First role, dates and tasks: “Specjalista ds. wdrożeń” becomes “Implementation specialist”, with the Polish title retained alongside it. 03.2021–06.2024 becomes March 2021–June 2024. Purchasing-module configuration, user instructions and participation in go-lives all survive; participation does not become project leadership.
  • Second role, dates and tasks: “Konsultant ds. utrzymania systemu ERP” becomes “ERP application support consultant”, again retaining the source title. 07.2024–obecnie becomes July 2024–present, supported by the dated clarification. Handling purchasing-module requests, reproducing errors and passing them to developers describe application support, not building maintenance or software development.
  • Education: preserve 2015–2019 and completed studies. Keep inżynier as the original qualification label; explain informatyka as the subject, computer science. Do not substitute BSc or BEng.
  • Training: keep “SAP MM, 2023” under Training. Ask for the provider, exact course title and whether there was a certification examination; the unanswered question does not justify a certificate claim.
  • English: retain B2 and “self-reported”. The source supplies a candidate declaration, not an examination result.
  • German: replace the vague “komunikatywny” with the clarified short support conversations and the English fallback for more complex matters. Do not assign B1 or B2.

Qualification names deserve different treatment from task descriptions. NAWA's guidance for translators of education documents warns that inaccurate names and translators' own comparisons between education systems can mislead recipients. Europass explains the Diploma Supplement as additional context that helps employers understand a qualification, rather than automatic recognition. Here, explaining the subject makes the entry clearer without assigning a foreign equivalent.

Share this profile or ask another question?

For this fictional brief, share the descriptive profile after comparing it with the source and clarification. All requested sections and periods remain, the original qualification is identifiable, and the language line describes practical use. SAP MM remains training. The open training question does not become a claim that the candidate is certified.

If the client instead requires a particular German level, obtain evidence of that level before presenting the candidate as meeting it. If SAP certification becomes a requirement, ask which certificate the candidate holds and request the supporting details. Neither requirement appears in this brief: do not invent one, or imply that it has been met.
